Cardoze was a minor writer who published a few verse pieces such as this between and BN records a few titles, including this one.

It came out in instalments during Paris: Normant, Wrappers, printed label, good. His wife made attempts to secure the throne for their son, but never succeeded and ended her life in exile.

Silvestre de Sacy is regarded as the founder of Arabic study in France.

Macaronica, a species of burlesque poetry in which words from a modern vernacular with Latin endings are introduced into Latin verse, has been popular from the late 15th century. The founder of the practice is thought to be Teofilo Folengo , an escaped Benedictine monk who supported himself throughout Europe by his verse. Published under the name of Brutus, this curious treatise is the most eccentric of the works of the philosopher and historian Delisle de Sales Beginning with an amusing dialogue between author and editor, it deals with the history and different styles of carts, wagons and chariots with captions such as "A Diatribe on the Open Cap" and proposes several reforms in the traffic routing within Paris.

The chante-fable of Aucassin et Nicolette was written by an unknown author probably of the early 13th century and survived in a single manuscript rediscovered in which Delvau here translates.
